Changi Airport eSIM & Free Wi-Fi: Singapore Arrival Guide

Do I need an eSIM at Singapore Changi Airport?
Changi provides free #WiFi@Changi in public and transit areas. If you remain in the terminal, that may meet your needs. A Singapore travel eSIM provides a separate mobile data option for a compatible unlocked device when you leave the airport. Installation, activation and connection are separate steps; their timing depends on the plan.
Compare current Singapore eSIM plans or check your exact device first.
Free Wi-Fi, travel eSIM or a physical SIM?
| Option | Useful for | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Airport Wi-Fi | Messages, bookings and setup while in the terminal | The official network and current airport connection instructions |
| Singapore travel eSIM | Mobile data after leaving the airport | Device compatibility, total or daily data, validity and covered network |
| Physical SIM | Devices with a compatible SIM slot | Current seller availability, price, registration and included calls or data |
How to connect to Changi’s free Wi-Fi
Select #WiFi@Changi and open your browser to reach the airport login page, then follow its connection steps. See Changi Airport’s official Wi-Fi instructions for current details. Airport Wi-Fi does not provide mobile coverage after you leave its range. Keep booking details and installation instructions available offline as a backup.
1. Check your phone and itinerary
Your device must support eSIM and be network-unlocked. Availability can differ between variants of the same phone, so check your exact model. An eSIM does not make an incompatible or locked device compatible.
If your journey continues to Malaysia, Thailand or another destination, compare a regional plan with separate country plans. Only the destinations listed on the chosen product are covered. A Singapore plan should not be assumed to cover neighbouring countries.
2. Choose your data allowance and validity
Compare each plan’s current price, included data and validity with your travel dates. Maps and messaging use data; uploading photos, video calls, streaming and hotspot use can consume substantially more. Your usage determines how much data you need.
Read whether the allowance is a fixed total or an allowance per day. Daily plans may have a reduced-speed period after the high-speed allowance; check the product’s fair-use details. Also check when validity starts before deciding when to install or activate the eSIM.
3. Install using your plan’s instructions
After successful purchase and fulfilment, follow the installation details supplied for your plan. Keep those instructions accessible offline and use a reliable internet connection for installation. If a QR code is supplied, follow the instructions for scanning it or using the alternative installation method on your device.
Keep your primary SIM available if you need your usual number. These travel plans provide data only, so ordinary mobile calls and SMS are not included. Internet calling and messaging apps use the data allowance. Your primary carrier may charge separately for calls, messages or roaming.
4. Connect at your destination
Follow the plan-specific instructions for selecting the eSIM as your mobile data line and configuring data roaming. Check that your primary SIM is not supplying chargeable roaming data. Network availability and speed vary with location, device and local conditions; an immediate connection everywhere cannot be guaranteed.
If the eSIM does not connect, check the selected data line, the plan’s coverage and validity, and any network or APN instructions supplied. Use the GrabaSIM help centre for installation or connection support. Avoid deleting an installed eSIM unless support or its instructions tell you to: reinstalling may be restricted.
Before you pay
Confirm the destination, allowance, validity and displayed checkout currency. Read the purchase and refund terms before buying, particularly before installing or using a digital plan. Compare the live plan details rather than relying on an older article’s fixed price or activation promise.
